Sapien collaborated with one of the leading telecom and mass media companies, commanding a market cap of US$29 billion and employing over 23,000 professionals. Our task was to revolutionize their strategic planning process by introducing an advanced simulation platform. The audience was the company's top 120 senior executives and their most influential leaders. The main theme was to strengthen strategy formulation and execution
The leadership team at this telecom giant was grappling with aligning diverse strategic perspectives and mapping the most promising future path. The fast-evolving industry was posing strategic scenarios that required a unified and dynamic response from globally distributed cross-functional teams.
We began by designing a custom application that presented strategic scenarios and potential outcomes conceived by the CEO and executive group. This application was a springboard for gathering diverse perspectives from the company’s top leaders. Their responses were collected and analyzed using a specially developed analytical model to measure their relative positions on the key strategic issues.
Utilizing the insights garnered, we created detailed visualizations for various categories, including topic level, macro level, and ecosystem level insights. These visualizations formed the basis for informed and insightful discussions, presenting a birds-eye view of the collective strategic direction.
In a high-impact session, we enabled the CEO to conduct a real-time Q&A with all 120 leaders. This interactive dialogue helped surface hidden assumptions, investigate between-group variance, and explore key themes and findings derived from the analysis.
We delivered a comprehensive post-event data pack to the leadership team. This included over 150 charts and graphs brimming with insights, along with qualitative feedback rich with meaningful data.
Our efforts resulted in a more holistic, forward-thinking approach to strategic planning. Leaders were able to visually grasp the collective strategic direction, which strengthened alignment and understanding among cross-functional teams. This fresh perspective on strategic planning propelled the telecom and media giant towards a unified vision and a more strategically aware and agile leadership.
With this project, we showcased how our simulation platform could bring leaders together, inspire dialogue, and create a strategic plan that speaks to the challenges of the telecom and mass media industry without the need for high-priced consultancy firms.
